THE JANUARY DAILY PRACTICE PROJECT WAS AN INVITATION FOR ARTISTS TO ENGAGE WITH THEIR PRACTICE EVERY DAY IN JANUARY 2021. THIS COMMITMENT TO DAILY PRACTICE TOOK ANY FORM THE ARTIST CHOSE. THEY CREATED DAILY, MET WEEKLY FOR ZOOM CRITS, AND COLLABORATED ON THIS VIRTUAL EXHIBITION. THE TITLE, #bosscrittdailyjanuary, LINKS TO the INSTAGRAM HASHTAG FEED TO EXPLORE THE ARTISTS’ PROCESSES IN THEIR OWN WORDS.

In addition to using the project’s hashtag, artists in this exhibition were invited to come up with ten words that relate to their art practice. The artists who undertook this challenge recorded themselves saying their ten words, the result of which is included in this exhibition.

THE PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT IS TO BE IN A COMMUNITY through this time of physical separation, WHEN MANY OF THE TRADITIONAL WAYS OF COMING TOGETHER ARE NOT POSSIBLE. we come together TO FURTHER THE WORK. TO (RE)COMMIT TO THE STUDIO. TO HAVE SOMETHING GOING ON IN JANUARY. FOR STRUCTURE. TO TRY SOMETHING NEW. TO SEEK. TO FIND. TO LOSE. TO LEAVE. TO EXPERIMENT. TO FINISH. TO START. TO SHIFT. FOR ANY REASON OR FOR NO REASON AT ALL.
